I think richness is somewhat measured internally. What is rich and beautiful to you might be missed by a less receptive eye. Perhaps that is one of the ways in which we make life rich: We find riches where others have not yet see them, and then we share them in such a way that they can see them. Your “coffee mates” were not annoyed because you dominated the conversation. They were enthralled to encounter someone who had found some much richness in the world.

That said, what you have done is noteworthy, and I don’t think you give yourself enough credit. I still suspect that you have BIG noteworthy things to do and say. What do you want to do, Todd? What do you want to say?

It happens to everyone, but when it happens to you it feels like you’re the only person in the world dealing with it. Frustration can cloud your thoughts. And doesn’t it always seem like the things you wanted to say only come to your mind AFTER you’ve left?

We certainly have a choice in situations like this, and usually finding a way to stay calm and choosing a positive feeling can help you think more clearly. It may not equate to the result you’re hoping for, but it gives you the best chance.

It happens a million times a week to me, invariably when I’m driving in the car and cannot do anything about it. Then it’s gone.

sometimes, though, it’s really hard to chose the exact feeling you want. sometimes, even though you are really channeling the calm, the storm comes in.
